Here's the view down the other side of the bend. Roady is in Hasty's corral, at left. You can see the Chinese Elm at the junkyard fence in the center of the photo. The lane and our backyard have been invaded by weeds. The biggest mesquite on our property sprouted about a year after we moved in -- I trimmed it last year so it would be more tree-like than bushy and I believe it will make a pretty sitting area, eventually (Guinevere is watching from inside the backyard fence through the mesquite). The blue tarp at the right covers the horse trailer which serves as a hay-barn at times -- the tarp keeps the rain out.  Other than the tendency of the Blackberry Pitch area to get nests of vicious bur grasses, this is my second-biggest problem area. This part of our lane, just outside the the gate from our back yard is the drainage field to our septic system, a spot well-loved by weeds. It's on my list for covering with grass seeds but I've got to get the weeds beaten first.  My hope is that will be a job for the chickens in their chicken tractor (that Dave is just now building for me).
