| Trunk of the Dwarf Cherry (protected) at left, a just-about-to-bloom Tahiti Daffodil at right is now growing in lawn, as the lawn has happily moved in on my garden. The hose is touching Minnow Narcissus which bloomed a week later. At left next to the towel is a "Navaho Sage" that blooms in salmon pink. Along the fence line are the Miniature Stella D'Oro Daylilies. The sticks you can barely see are volunteer Desert Willows (I think) that I plan to move to shade the chicken coop we will build in the back. The bare bones bush is Russian Sage, just starting to bud -- in front of it you can almost see the grass-like blades of some early-blooming bronze crocus that have since faded and left only their striped leaves behind. The heap of grass is blue grama, volunteering from the lawn. Just beyond it, the yellow is pansies. The little mound of spring green beyond the Russian Sage is Blue Sage. The purple at the edge of the lawn -- more pansies. The green in front, daffodils -- I like them as they wake up the garden in the spring. |
