Laidley Graves

Bethel Cemetery, Summersville, MO, July 1999

To get to Bethel Cemetery, you need to start from the junction of Route 106 and Route 17. Heading route-north on Route 17, it is 1/10th of a mile from Route 106 to "Factory Road" on the left. Take the left onto Factory Road. Two and a half miles down Factory Road, you meet a crossroads for Bethel Road. Take a left on Bethel Road. A half mile down Bethel Road, you'll find Wurtley Road, and the Bethel Church. If you park in the church parking lot you will be near the top of the hill, and face a downward slope with the cemetery across the street. There are three gates into the cemetery. The first is a car gate, the second is a car gate, and the last is a small gate. Entering through the middle (car) gate, you'll have a group of three trees to your right. Keeping them on your right angle a little toward the right as you walk into the center of the cemetery. There you will find lots of Laidley graves along with some Moberly ones. Anna (Morton Laidley) Moberly rests there, along with her son (my grandfather) Dale Edward Moberly.

Three Graves
A view from the side of Dale Moberly's grave, including both his mother's and his father's graves. Here's another at a slightly different angle.
Anna Morton Laidley Moberly
Here's Anna's marker. You can also visit the page for her husband's side of the family at the Moberly Graves.
More Laidleys
Here are two views of one grave in the neighborhood (one and two); there were a couple of monuments like this one, solid and in good condition, and lots of other Laidleys. I am only sorry I was not able to spend more time there.
