I had no idea the cosmos I planted would get so big! It was to be sprinkled in amongst the various grasses I planted on the other side of the rail border, but it grew to be three feet tall and higher! The bougainvillea I overwintered inside our house is barely beginning to think about climbing its trellis -- and has never pinked up despite having full sun, so I guess I'm going to think of it as an annual from now on. The Russian Sage beyond in pale purple is hiding a darker blue sage, and behind that is a fountain grass. The middle of my "lawn" ("bug-eaten lawn") is dominated by a white wild gaura. Our stepping stones are hidden by tall blue grama grass.  The whole thing needs a trim, but now that I've got a "real job" there's little time, and that has been spent, lately, pulling up burr grasses.  August 21, 2004.
